Dear Robert,

My group and I were assigned on a project about the Yap State and its outlying islands.
I am asking your permission if we could use no more than 5 pictures shown from your gallery. Please reply real soon. Our project is due in two-weeks and we need to finish up putting the pictures through power point for our class preentation. Thank you. Your assistance is appreciated.

Awesome photos and I must admit that I’m jealous! You have been to so many places that I want to visit. As soon as I win the lotto or retire I’ll be asking questions before I travel. I wish that I could have made it to see STS-132 launch and to meet the FB group, but it’s amazing all of the cool things that have come from the friends made on FB. I see that you are missing eight states, is one of them were I live, Indiana?

Hi there,
I happened to come across your pictures from Yap and noticed that you said you had been there, this is completely random but I'm currently in college and doing a project on the nutrition, diet, and cuisine of yap, I'm wondering if you might have any information on this subject?
I know others can see what I've posted so if anyone else might have any input it'd be really helpful as it's not easy finding any info in librarys or on the internet. My emails nelson.k1991@hotmail.com Thanks so much

Stumbled unto your gallery and I am just awe struck - flabbergasted. I simply adore each and every one of your photos (as far as time allowed - and oooooh so much more to go through) Like you I lam a travelholic. Just can't get enough of it. My biggest regret is that I can't take gorgeous shots (have to blame my lack of perspective and no sense of composition). But I am reliving each moment through your eyes. Most of all, I do envy you so much. Sad to say, I have been to only a fraction of the places you have been to and I doubt very much I will be able to see all before I leave this wonderful earth. I have a confession to make. I stole some of your photos and will steal more for my album. I am putting together an album of all the places I have been to. So when I am old and feeble, my albums are there to bring me back to all the beautiful places I have seen (that is if dementia or alzheimer doesn't get me first).

Thank you for sharing your beautiful photos. Planning a trip to Belize, Cozumel and Isle Roatan, Honduras and Grand Cayman, Feb. 2009. Your photos help to see what some of these places are like. You are a very lucky man to see all these wonderful places.

Dear Robert,

I am planning to visit south america for almost 2 months in spring 2008.
You have been in many places I would like to go (i.e. Argentina, Perù, Bolivia and Chile).
What do you think I must see (two months is not such a long period and I will be travelling on budget)?
Lenses...? 17-40 mm for sure, what a about a bigger and heavier 70-200mm? please consider I will be shooting with films (both B&W and color slides)
THX a lot and congratulations for you photos of Perù!
cheers
Alberto

Hi Robert,

How nice it was to see those pictures, I have some of St Lucia if you want some, We went to a party in Castries and it was in the white house in one of your pictures. A number of out freinds live around the bay area and it reminded us of how much of a fantastic time we had. We also went On the beach at rodney bay and had a drink in the spinnakers.

It was also nice to compare the islands.

Thank you for sharing your pictures and reminding us of how much of a wonderful time we had.

Best Regards

Ian Upton

Thanks Robert, we have just booked a holiday to the Coral Canoa in the DR. Your pictures of the hotel and area are great. I am slightly jealous of all the places you have visited.

Excellent pictures. Thanks for sharing. I have been to several of the places including Sydney, which you captured very well. I would say that next on your list is Africa!? Beautiful pictures!

Hi John - I used my Olympus C-750 UZ for both the Nazareth and 49er/Colt photos. The camera is a 10x optical zoom with the digital zoom feature turned off. I did do a tight crop to enlarge further for the football photos. With this camera it is quite difficult to keep the camera steady at full optical zoom but I did the best I could. Overall I was happy with the results. For the Nazareth photos I was in the front row so all of the photos were taken with as wide an angle as possible.
John Reh 24-Nov-2005 23:29
Hi Bob
I'm a big naz fan as well. Know the guys very well. What kind of equpitment do you use?
Are you using a zoom at the 49ers-colts game?
Let me know
Thanks
John

Hi Robert,
Thanks for leaving a comment on Thailand/Cambodia/Vietnam gallery. I'm impressed (and a bit envious) with how much traveling you have done. You have some great photos, keep up the good work.

Hi Robert,
We are leaving for Coral Canoa, Dominican Republic next week and so your review and the photos were much appreciated. Your pictures were great. It's good to see the resort/hotel from a holiday maker's perspective rather than the travel company's! Thank you so much. The information you gave was also very useful. We'll steer clear of the beach sellers! Also, I too have been to Grand Bahama - your pictures brought back some wonderful memories :o)

To answer a couple questions:

Marcello - It really depends. Some countries such as Vatican City, Malaysia and Liechtenstein I only visited for a day. Others such as The Netherlands and Belgium I spent a few days. Other larger counties such as China and Mexico I spent closer to a month. Unfortunately, with my work situation, it is hard to take a vacation as long as 3 weeks, so on average I would say that each visit is about 1 to 2 weeks - never as long as I would like.

Jim - For most of my more recent trips, I used an Oympus C-750 UZ digital camera. For older photos, I shot slide film (usually Fuji ISO 100 film)with a Canon Elan or Elan 7 SLR. Underwater photos were always shot with a cheap disposable camera. I have a mix of dive gear, most of which needs to be updated. I have a Dacor regulator with an Oceanic dive computer and a US Divers BCD that is on its last leg.

Hey Robert, Thanks for your wonderful web site! Excellent pictures!! Looked at Mexico, Belize, Costa Rica, and Tikal, Guatemala. Must say you brought back many a happy memory! Also checked out Banff...I will be there in 8 days!

Keep travelin'....happy trails to you! Janice (Pennsylvania)

Nice stuff Robert - especially appreciate the local feel to some of the places. Very difficult to push your way through the BS that some travel agents put up and even more dificult to find some non-staged pictures of a resort.

Aprreciate the time and effort - Andy (UK)

nice! I want to visit C. America but always see pictures which don't express people/place. Thank you for that. If you had 2 weeks in C. America. Where would you go back to.
Marcello 29-Jul-2005 14:58
Hey, How long dit you stay in the countries you travellt (averaged) - only a few days or month???

Hi just admiring the pictures. I will be leaving for a cruise in the Caribbean in April. Your pictures of St. Lucia and Grenada are awesome, these are just 2 of the places we will be visiting. Just had to say thanks for taking the time to put these pictures on the net. It just makes it much more exciting for those just waiting for the time to come. The net is great that way.
donna and chris 24-Feb-2005 12:45
Robert, My husband Chris and I (Donna) were on a couple of tours with you in Antigua and St. Lucia. I have been checking to see if you had posted your pictures yet and they are fantastic. Just wish I could be sitting on some of those beaches now. We didn't make it to St. Johns in St. Thomas and the pictures are awesome. Take care and thanks for the website.

Intense photos, especilly loved those of the Embera. What if any agency did you use to travel there? You were obviously impressed. I will be in Panama in Feb. and this is something I wish to do. Thanks for the post max

Robert:

The pictures are sensational. However, it's beginning to get a little clearer about how you manage to save so much money on meals. Doesn't look like Conde Nast has been to many of your South American destinations. I'm looking forward to your shots of your most recent trip to Greece, etc. May I stow away in your luggage on the next voyage?
