This is in a peach orchard of a kibbutz not too far from where I live. These poles are placed near the tree's stem when it is planted, in order to support the trunk. The farmers build small wooden cotes in order to encourage the kestrels to reside in the area. They are proven to be excellent natural pest exterminators. I only take advantage of the whole situation... a real exploiter...
