In my opinion these are very underrated galleries, you have some superb nature shots deserving of more comments and/or votes. PBase works in a strange way sometimes!, definitely added to my favourites list though. Thanks for posting to PBase, Regards Nick.

Alex,

Congratulations for the nice pictures. I have just bought myself a D70s NIKON and I don't know how to take black and white pictures with it. Is it possible to do that with the camera or do I need to alter the picture after? This is my first digital camera, I have always used 35mm Nikons...

Can you email me the details please? I am at the moment in China and everything is a picture here. I would really like to learn to take B&W with my D70s.

Thank you in advance for your help,

Kind regards,

Carolina

Alex

I have seen your posts on DPreview and thought I would view your gallery.

Really nice images... I have only just purchased a DSLR (Nikon D50).. I have always been a point and shoot person until now. I am hoping to expand my knowledge and skills in the coming years...

I was wondering is you could assist me in one small way... I am not very conversant with Photoshop and I am on a steep learning curve. I would like to learn how people like yourself border their images and place their names on them.

I have tried to do this myself using layers however I can never seem to pull it off or it look very bad.

Would you be able to email me some tips regarding this process.

Many thanks in advance.

Regards

Nigel.

Very nice macro work Alex. You'll find a few differences when you start using a DSLR, probably the two biggest are the depth of field is less (larger sensor), but on the plus side, you can be much more flexible with the lighting. I look forward to seeing what you can do.
Regards,
Charles.
P.S. Very envious of your Dragonfly emerging sequence :-)

Hello Alex,
Your macro's are really wonderful. The dragonflies are great, never saw better pics of those before. Looks like you are a pro. I bought myself the Fuji 5100 a few months ago and took some closeups too. But they arent far as good as yours. Let me know if you want to see them, i have put some on the net.
