Cellphone photo tests with the 3.2 megapixel camera on the Samsung A990 -- pictures mostly under more difficult lighting (sundown, indoors w/o flash and darkish classroom)

April 2009. Added another gallery of indoor, low-light, non-flash shots for a Kindle blog.

Macro shot w/o flash. Elephant's 5x smaller than this.	iso800 has bad grain but gets picture in darkened room	iso800 in darkened class for viewing slides.

The photos with 3.2 megapixel mobile phone is quite clear, but uploading it in the computer distorts the pixels and the photos is not clear then.... it is good to see the photos in the original size... "cellphone camera"

Dawn, any photo editor will be able to edit cell phone photos. They're just jpg files. No different from others, but usually smaller than from most cameras we use.

Do you know of a cell phone photo processor that i can download to either my computer or my cell phone? I get the greatest pic's of my family etc since the phone is always handy.. it's frustrating, i haven't been able to find a single program that allows editing/enhancing of cell phone photo's. My phone is a new Sony Ericsson. Thank you for your soon reply!

Am not trying to 'impress' you. I do normal post-processing on these as I do on any of my photos with the Elph (which also has severe noise at 400 or in the cellphone case, at iso800) or the Rebel.. The EXIF data IS bogus, which I stated on the Show & Tell cellphone thread. It always shows Flash-Yes and only once was there possible use of flash (last pic) as I was testing w/o flash (which is too bright). I couldn't find PBase's model identifer and' it kept coming up in different ways. Anyway, the camera's 3.2 Megapixels is, for me, useful, but has a real problem with green seeping into white areas. I almost took it back but saw that this was a prob on many Samsung A990 shots. As anyone can see, it doesn't have the clarity of my 4M Elph s410. However, it makes phone calls much better than do my other cameras :-) The cellphone also does decent video and it scans business cards to put phone info into the database. 2gig memory card capabiity is also nice. The tremendous grain on iso800 (manually set) indoors is not great but the sensor is obviously very small...

I cry BS on these photos. Show the photos unedited and no cropping/resizing to hide noise . Then I will be impressed. Also, the EXIF data loks a little bogus with different "Make" types.
