We spent 3 days in Volterra, with its Etruscan sites, museums, and alabaster.
Included is a short videoclip of live music heard at a cafe in the main piazza.
We stayed at Hotel Etruria, once a 18th C. palazzo, on the main street, in the center of town, with good restaurants and shops nearby. On the way to our room, which was on top of the roof garden, there was a 5th Cent. B.C. Etruscan wall. The very pleasant and welcoming Giuseppina and Lisa are the relatively recent new owners of the hotel. There is a discount if you are a cash customer and are carrying the Rick Steves book that recommends them. There's no elevator but they'll help you with the luggage. This photo gallery isn't finished yet, as there are a few more photos to post. |
