Astoria, Oregon

Astoria is located at the mouth of the 'Great River of the West', the Columbia River which marks the boundary between Oregon and Washington State in the USA.

Astoria is named for America's first multi-millionaire, John Jacob Astor I. He established a settlement called Fort Astoria for his American Fur Company there just 4 years after the Lewis and Clark expedition of 1803-1806.
