It isn't Arches National Park. It's an Oregon arch made of hard, ocean-bottom basalt now nestled high in the rugged Cascade Mountains near the North Santiam River. It's 13 miles up logging roads off Hwy 22 from the tiny town of Niagara, Oregon to a steep 500ft-drop hiking trail down to the formation.
Rinoa is the little girl at the top of the trailhead. The big waterwheel is in Niagara at the beginning of the logging road up to the arch trailhead. That waterwheel has been a fixture noticed by passers by on busy highway 22 for at least 50 years.
