Peg,

Thanks (I think) for distracting me for an hour and a half with some great shots of Arizona when I have work to do. ;-) The photos were excellent and I'm sorry to see that you haven't posted many in the last half-decade, at least not in the AZ sections. I've been to a lot of the places you've shown, but sadly don't have the type of transportation to get me to some of the really remote places you visited.

If you post more pics, please drop me an e-mail.

I have been looking at your site on and off for a couple of years. I left Tucson in 1997 and miss it terribly. I would often explore areas generally not visited by most, then again,I have fond memories of all places. Your pictures of some of the old motels are so fixed in my memory, downtown another fixed memory along with most of the restaurants. I hope to get back before I amtoo old to do it and too old to get around. Please, please, keep taking pictures, just in case I can't get back to Gods country

Hi Mike,
Have you checked out the ghosttowns website? Here's a link to Humbolt: Don't know if it's what you're looking for: http://www.ghosttowns.com/states/az/humboldt.html
Thanks for your nice note. I really need to go out looking for more ghost towns after all this snow leaves.

Peg,

I am from Tucson and still return regularly. When I was growing up on the northwest side of town there used to be a big mansion on the NW corner, set back in from the road, of River and Oracle Rds. We used to have a large oriental rug that came out of the front entry way to that home. Have you or any of the others that happen along this website, ever heard of it or know who it was that lived there? It was demolished in the 70s-terrible! I believe there is (or was) a McDonalds right next to it.

Speaking of historic buildings in downtown Tucson, I have just finished a book based on over 100 historic photographs from the 10s-30s. Hoping to have a book signing at Hotel Congress (and have one at Bookmans on Grant Aug. 21)but the old Hotel Coronado -do you have any full photographs of that hotel? Please email me if you do. I'd like to see what it looked like.

Hi Peg, We are in Maine now and waiting for knee, foot operation. Sorry it took so long, but we have had a lot of things happening to us.\ Not all bad, not all good, hope you guys are healthy wealthy and wise.. We are going july 18 to S.C. to see Frank and Melody, they are celebrating Franks bicycle ride in the Appalachians, and we expect to see other people from Tucson. Then in Oct. we are going to Ft. laud. fla to play in the first senior games there, with Dave jordoon.. sounds like we are grooving, but we are not

Hi Ron,
I'm glad you like the pics...especially your return!
Are you guys still at the Voyager? We're still in VA trying to help my Mom. We might make it back to Tucson by July.

Hello Peg,

I have been researching family history. My Grand Parents owned the Redwood Lodge in 1962. My grandfathers brother owned the Lariat across the street. Nice pictures.

Peg your pictures bring back a lot of memories. I lived in Tucson for over 25 years partly as an child and partly as an adult. I remember when the original Tucson High was Roskgruge Junior High School. Thanks for sharing all the photos. Lynne Wilson lwilson@yahoo.com

Dear Pat and Terry,
I'm so sorry to hear about your Brandy. Yes, indeed, you may download the photo.
Are you in the Voyager park right now? I'd be happy to make a print for you from the original file.

Hi Peg,
I am writing to thank you for the lovely picture of our Brandy that you took at the Voyager RV Resort on 2005. It breaks our heart to tell you that she passed away last night. Would it be OK if we downloaded & printed her picture.

Yours

Hi Melinda,
Thanks for correction. Your family probably already know about this website but since your house is listed on the National Register of Historic Places, I thought I'd mention the link to its listing:http://www.nationalregisterofhistoricplaces.com/az/Pima/state.html

And the listing giving Property Owners information:http://www.cr.nps.gov/nr/owners.htm

It looks like the federal government allows you to do anything you wish with the property but I'm not sure how the city's ability to demolish it ties in.
Again, the best of luck to you and your family in this battle.
Peg

Yolanda and Melinda,
I just sent you a personal email with a couple ideas.
I sure hope you're able to get more time from the city and save your home. Please keep us posted on how things are going.
Maybe someone will read your note and can offer help.
Best wishes to you both,
Peg

Hi Peg,
You have done a wonderful job in taking the history of Tucson. I am an owner of one of the houses in your gallery-File 30927700-Alameds Hse. I would like to rehab-reconstruct it. The city is after me to demolish it. I am seeking to get assistance to get this done.
The Historical Society does not have funding at this time. I would like to find out if one of your readers would know someone that could help, please. I would really appreciate any feed back.
Thank you for the great job you are doing in showing our history.

Peg we moved to an old house in La Grange and it has a huge live oak tree. When the sattlitie guy came he said it was larger than the 2nd largest that is in Columbus. I was wondering who do I need to talk to to see if we might have the largest live oak

Thanks for your nice note, Liz. I love photographing the historic spots in Tucson too.
To have photos of the Meyer Street area from the early 1960s would be incredible. I wonder if anyone did any detailed photography of the buildings before so many were destroyed?
I hope you enjoy your next photography trip to the Old Pueblo!

Hi Peg,
Thanks for your wonderful pictures of historic Tucson. When I visit Tucson I always head straight for historic areas to do some photography. Your pictures and comments have cleared up questions I had about certain buildings. How I wish I had photographed the Meyer Street area when I was living in Tucson 1961-1965. I appreciate your work!

As the intense, (almost) Winter sun breaks through the lingering night clouds and a breeze rises up, ruffling the palm fronds and the light is chisled and clear and the temperature is, alreadly, 61 degrees and the forecast is for a lovely Saturday in Apache Junction, AZ, viewing some of your images and reading the heart-felt posts to your guest book, Peg Price - well, what can I say, except, it is a good way to begin another day.

Thank you for your eye and images.

Enjoy -

Hi Peg,
I saw your amazing picture of the Red Mexican Bird of Paradise and was wondering if one was for sale. I have a wall in my bedroom that needs a huge focal point - needs to cover a 36" square space ( at least). Please let me know if you sell your pictures, how much one would cost, and the largest size that you might have available (if you have different sizes - otherwise I could look into enlarging it myself without destroying the quality).

Cordially, Gail or fraila56

Peg, I just wanted to say that I enjoyed your pictures a lot and that I could feel the love you have for Nali - you must be a wonderful person. Thanks for sharing this sweet part of your life!

Peg, thank you so much for sharing your great pic of Tucson and our ghost towns. It is such a joy to get visitors and share what we have here in Southern Arizona. It bothers me to read some of the critisisom from some of the veiwers - small people are found every where. Photography is art and if one wants something perfect - Life is to be enjoyed and again thank you for sharing - great memories.

I was very taken by your pictures of Nali. They reflect how deeply you love her. You have a wonderful eye for capturing her essence and express the harmonious detail of natural beauty. The picture "Beach combing" is the most captivating and beautiful visual portrayal I have ever seen of any dog - I can look at it forever...
When I lost my soulmate Rougin a friend sent me this:
"If you are wise, you will let tears flow freely and as often as they must. And if you are typical, you will find that not many in your circle of family and friends will be able to understand your grief and comfort you. But if you are true to the love of the pet you have cherished through the joy-filled years, you may find that a soul - a bit smaller in size than your own - seems to walk with you, at times, during the lonely days to come. And at moments when you least expect anything out of the ordinary to happen, you may feel something brush against you - very, very lightly."
My best, Arna Dan

I just got off the phone with Kathy & searched for your e~mail.......

I can only imagine how you two are feeling.

You have my sincerest condolences.........
I know that the memorial pictures will be a delight and an inspiration for all who knew Denali & those who wish they did .Viewing the pix, I'm sure will be a treat for any pet lover Peg.
That is about the best thing we can do..to allow the to live on in our memories & hearts.
There is a quote, I think I remember it;

"When you live in the hearts of the loved ones you left behind, there IS no death"

I have included an attachment of the last page of a book I have ,to help me better counsel people in Hospice or grieving, about the death of a pet, I wanted to share it with you both.
I hope you can enlarge it enough to read it.
It would be a great & appropiat article to put on your memorial site.

In essence, what it says at the very bottom is;

"The BEST & ONLY place to bury a good pet is in the HEART of their master."

My you both be blessed with peace & comfort,

Ann & Lyn
