Histoire de Paris - Tour de Nesle

Philippe-Auguste Wall Tour - Quai de Conti, 6th

The Histoire de Paris - rough translation:
First component of the Philippe-Auguste wall on Left Bank, the tower of Philippe Hamelin, built about 1200,
bore initially the name of the provost who chaired its construction. It then formed part of the powerful strengthened
whole of the Hôtel de Nesle, built about 1270 on the field of Laas and acquired by Philippe le Bel (the Fair) in 1308.

The legend tells of the martyrdom of the three princesses of Burgundy, Marguerite, Blanche and Jeanne,
wives of the future kings Louis X, Philippe V and Charles IV, proven by their sister-in-law Isabelle de France
that they entertained Gaultier and Philippe d' Aulnay, who were at once tortured and decapitated.

The "good queen Jeanne" remains alive in the memories thanks to Villon: "But where are the snows of antan?"
