The stable courtyards, dating from the mid-16th century and built by Sir William Sharington, whose descendants have been connected with Lacock Abbey ever since. The most renowned former resident was of course, William Henry Fox Talbot, the pioneering inventor of the negative/positive photographic process, and, some would argue therefore, the founder of modern popular, commercial photography
The composition isn't perfect on this - there were a number of cars parked around the courtyard, and try as I might, I couldn't get it just right...if I kept all of the window at right, I got half a car in shot as well...cut out the car, and I lose half the window....I thought it better to go with the latter and decided to keep all vehicular modernity out of the shot
