Not all long haul, International flights (including not even those over 16 hours)
have the newer, individual seating "pods" in First/Business Class.
Some planes are still configured so that passengers have a seat mate & must share the space between the seats.
Although each passenger does have his/her personal monitor for viewing inflight movies, older planes still have an old fashioned, communal mini table (rather than merely an arm rest like in coach) between each pair of lay flat seats.
Seating can be 2/3/2. The two seats together arrangement is good if you are traveling with someone you know & like. Not as good if you're sitting next to a stranger who is not friendly. Unfortunately, with the 3 seats across arrangement in Business Class, a center seat is a center seat - just like in the back of the plane in coach. Nevertheless, the more comfortable seats & extra leg room in Business Class make upgrading desirable.
