Earth Day’s major focus is saving our natural resources and giving back to our environment. By planting trees and flowers, humans can help. Flowers, trees and shrubs help to reduce dust and smoke from the air to improve air quality. During photosynthesis, flowers’ leaves absorb harmful carbon dioxide gases and discharge oxygen, increasing oxygen levels in the surrounding area.
Because we’ve been having a late cold spell here (26 degrees Fahrenheit last night & 3 ˝ inches of snow the day before), planting tender plants outdoors here was not advisable today.
Still, I have seedlings (above photo) ready to go outside when the weather warms up enough for them to survive. To keep things environmentally friendly, the seedlings are in peat pots that will dissolve and add nutrients to the soil.
