Dating from 680 AD, The Xiangji Temple is the home of a branch of Buddhism called Pure Land Buddhists. It has been visited by empresses and noblemen over the centuries.
Xiangyi is translated as "heaped fragrance," and was so named by it's builder in tribute to the greatness of his master, the priest Shandao.
