I have 85mm f1.2 creat more soft background compare this one but have to step far far away to get better shots because the Focal Length. lot folks said 50mm 1.2 offen get soft copy because 1.2 usually is useless, and 50mm 1.4 get similar result. is true?

Growing up shooting with my AE-1P my favorite lens was always the old 50mm f/1.4 SSC. It was the sharpest lens in my small collection at the time and just a great focal length for my style. This memory prompted me to purchase the EF 50mm f/1.4 but I was mostly disappointed. It just didn't seem to hold up to my other lenses at the time so I sold it fairly quickly and decided to wait for the L version. This version. Thus far I am not disappointed in the least. This lens has fast focus, is reasonably lightweight, has great bokeh, excellent detail resolving power, and is an all around wonderful lens - at least that's my impression after a few days of ownership. I think the 85 f/1.2L is still a marginally better chunk of glass but its operational quirks smear its incredible quality. I have not noticed any operational quirks with the 50 and the quality is very, very close to the 85 IMO. More time with this beautiful lens is in order to make a final judgment.
