Sigma 400mm f/5.6 APO Lens Sample Photos and Specifications

I have used 3 versions of this lens, from the MF to the last APO Macro for Nikon. The last one was a superb lens, with close focus capabilities. My only regret is it is not available anymore...

The 400mm F/5.6 tele-macro Sigma is a quality lens. Those who complain probably already own the most expensive lenses out there or they don't have any skill with a camera. This lens will capture print/publish worthy shots. I had a published and first place image that I took with the cheapest canon zoom lens made. This lens is heads and tails above that lens, so no excuses (buy it!).

This lens is superb,i could't made better choice!!!!!Using manual focusing ,af for sport only.Very sharp and perfect dof for close up.Highly recomending!!!! Some example www.pbase.com/petr_petr

There are two versions of this lens. I have no experience with the original, Sigma 400mm f/5.6 APO, but I own a 400mm f/5.6 APO Tele Macro (HSM version for EF mount). It's sharp - in fact sharper than my Canon EF 400mm f/5.6 in the corners - and worked flawlessly on EOS 630, 3, and D60 bodies. Unfortunately it is not quite usable with EOS 5D and I had to purchase a Canon EF 400mm f/5.6: it can only be used at f/5.6 with the 5D, meaning I can only use Manual exposure and Aperture Priority AE, which is not a big deal, the bigger problem is that the body locks up for a few seconds before the next exposure can be taken. Too bad...to be fair, the Canon version is somewhat better mechanically (AF speed and handling).
