In reply to the common above about the minimum focusing distance. There is a hack/way around it. First your lense on M (manual focus), zoom it out to 300mm. Then put it into macro mode(the little switch that says Normal or Macro). Now rotate the focus ring(the front fucus ring) all the way so it focus the closest. The part is to un-zoom your lense back to 70mm, you will feel a bit of resistense but use a little bit of force. It's only a tiny metal clip within the lense. Now your lense can do macro from 70mm all the way to 300mm, rather than just 200-300. There is no ill effects as many people have done the same.

This lens is a decent telephoto lens with macro capability. While its minimum focusing distance is not great, it is good enough to zoom so close that you can get photos of subjects like coins and flowers. It is also inexpensive for a lens with both telephoto and macro capability, making an ideal lens for those with a strict budget. Its only drawback to me is its noisy autofocus mechanism.
