Alex, Fred, and I took a short trip to Costa Rica to explore the La Selva Biological Station and nearby areas. The Station is located in the midst of pristine lowland rainforest in the northeast of the country, and while geared towards research, it offers simple but comfortable accomodations to eco-tourists, with unrestricted access to the excellent trail system criss-crossing the forest. We spent most of our time hiking the trails during the morning, early afternoon, and night, with some stops in other nearby locations, including a river boat tour on the Sarapiqui and Puerto Viejo rivers. Here are some highlights from the trip.
