Chinese American architect I.M.Pei designed the new glass pyramid entrance for the"Le Grand Louvre" concept for the museum.
The plan was launched in the 1980's amidst controversy that the futuristic structure (based on the ancient Egyptian pyramid concept) , was out of place with the architecture of the Louvre.
People either love it or hate it, but regardless, the pyramid and its smaller surrounding pyramids give light and an airy ambience to the lower level foyer of the museum.
This is one of many pictures I have of the pyramid, and I liked the girl in red to give the image some pizzaz!
