David Arne Oustad (2nd cousin) 19-Jun-2014 19:26
Thank you for sharing these pictures. I don't know why I have not found my way here until now. Steve was my 2nd cousin. His grandfather Peder and my grandfather Anton were brothers back in the old country of Norway. I didn't even know about my 2nd cousins until late 90's when doing my genealogy, I discovered the San Jose Oustads. I met Steve at a couple of the family reunions there in San Jose. I am glad that I got to meet him even for that short time before his death.

Hi - as the fires continue this season and every season I can't help but think of Steve Oustad. You see we had met about a year before his death and we had just really started to get to know each other well shortly before his accident. He kind of swept me off my feet with his sweetness and kindness, and his good looks. I couldn't attend any of the memorials that were held and I often regret that. He was very special to me. Thanks for this photo gallery.

Cheryl, I come to your site from time to time paying respects to old friends and good times. The marriage has been over a good long while now and I am at peace. Good spirits and high energy once again loving life. Moved to Goshen and bought a small house, man cave, starting to really make it home.

Peace, George

Cheryl, I lived in Chico for the first half of my life, and know exactly where you took that picture from. Consider the drive to the upper lake area when my family would go there and camp. In the early fifties through the sixties, the most taken route to the upper lakes went through Lake Philbrook, which you have a photo of. The dirt road began at Innskip and went through an old stage stop called Chapparel. It then took a fork over the west fork the feather river. Anyway, there are 14 lakes in the region, perhaps the most picturesque would be the combo of Saddle, and Long. Along which is where there are Indian markings on a granite face, if it is still being upkept by the Forestry Dept. If you ever decide to make a trek up there again and stay awhile, then try to find the end of the Ben Lomand Trail. If you do, then you will be exposed to a sight indeed. You can look almost straight down from some 7000 ft., and look right into the town of Belden, on the Feather River, at 3000 ft. along Hwy 70. In between Lotts Lake and the end of the Trail, you will find Chips Lakes(3), Grassy Lake, Long and Saddle, Spring Valley, Morris Lake, Murphy's Lake and Bear lake, and a few others.

Hi Cheryl,
I just surfed into your galleries and spent a wonderful evening looking at your photos. It appears that you live somewhere "on the ridge". I was born in Paradise but don't get back there often enough. Beautiful work!

Hi Cheryl, thanks for commenting on my PAD. You are right, it is cotton. I guess that was a fairly easy question for you guys in the States. A more trickly one for the folks back home in the UK as we don't see real cotton plants that often!! Thanks again - much appreciated, Robert.

Thank you for visiting and commenting on my image of the back lit shell. I am always moved by natures symmetry. I am also happy to be able to capture and preserve its beauty. Glad you enjoyed the image.
