This was a test to answer for myself the best looking image for sharpness only. I shot Neff + Jpg fine for this test. I compared Jpg out of camera (OOC) to original Neff (ON)loaded in capture 4.3.1 and saved as jpg excellent quality and original Neff loaded into PS 7.01 then saved as jpg at various levels from 6 to 12. In camera sharpening was set to normal. Neff was Uncompressed. Jpg in camera compression was set to optimal quality. All NR was off. Camera was D2X on tripod with 60mm macro lense, cable released used with mirror lock up. Iso 100. WB 5300K.

The data shows to my eye very little difference between the Neff to PS saved at levels 6-12, even the level 6 jpg is sharper than the original (OOC)jpg. Plus the full versions sizes of these images are as follows:

(OOC) original Jpg-3.07MB
Neff to NC saved as excellent quality- 3.6MB
Neff to PS saved LVL 12- 3.7 MB
Neff to PS saved LVL 10- 1.4MB
Neff to PS saved LVL 8- 813KB
Neff to PS saved LVL 6- 604KB

My conclusion at least for my version of this camera is that either Neff saved as JPG excellent from capture or Neff saved at Jpg lvl 8-10 is much sharper than OOC Jpg. Plus the added benefit of smaller file size. These Jpg's were not sharpened at all except for in camera normal. I dont see Jpg from camera as usable as is with these other tools available.

I also redid the test increasing the in camera sharpening to med hi and hi and the out of camera Jpg was still not as sharp as Neff converted in NC or PS.
