Open Field

Took this a while back on my trip back home to Illinois. I miss the nice flat landscapes as opposed to the hilly landscapes at the base of the Appalachian Mountains. It looks crooked only because there is a slight drop off on the scene on the right. Tried and tried to fix in POST but even doing a paint over the lower spot looked a little weird.

This was my first foray (today) in doing a half black and white half color photo with Silver Efex. Turned out pretty nice.

The curve could easily be the lay of the land, I've been in western Kansas many times and this exactly how it looks. Rolling landscape! I agree it came out very nice. Paul

As I recall, the horizontal curvature is probably the result of Photoshops camera raw doesn't have a setting for the Sigma 10-22mm lens. I think I ended up using the Canon 10-20mm setting in the lens correction section. But there was some pitch at this location as well. Not much but it was hardly noticeable.

I really like the contrast between the earth (amber waves of grain) and sky. Do I see some horizon curvature? Here we all are, sitting on a blue ball. Big from some perspectives. Minute from others.
