Dave, I believe the modes they call "night mode" are a version of HDR. Both Apple and the Android phones have been doing this for a while. It might be mostly tone mapping, not true HDR; but the results are quite good.
The iPhone 11 camera seems to be doing pretty well. I’m real impressed with the 12 camera, especially the night or low light. It actually takes a series of shots over a few seconds then uses some kind of algorithm to blend them together. If it’s a few seconds or less exposure then you can do it handheld. Paul
Paul - yes, seasoned burgers left over from a Sunday gathering. And yes, back to an iphone from a pixel 3a. The pixel 3a had too many software issues for me; good camera though.
