I'm imagining Paul's welcome mat. Not-so-fine-print: "No Solicitors" and "Pests Need Not Apply".

Blasted blind @ss daddy long legs (not spiders) nothing but trouble in your home even if they do eat other bugs. Nasty suckers they are and think of it this way. Suppose you invite a guest over for lunch and when they were done they just dropped the scraps on the floor took a dump and walked away, so much for inviting them again.
And that’s all I have to say about that.

Now then about your fruit fly issue, try this. Put some apple cider vinegar in a glass then put a drop or two of simple dishwashing soap in with it. None of that foo foo smelling anti bacterial stuff just simple basic liquid soap. Don't want to overpower the ACV which attracts them and when they land in it they sink and drown. No pheromones released to warn the others. Paul

Are Daddy Long Leg spiders good in the house?
Granddaddy long legs are actually quite beneficial in your home and garden. They are omnivores with a wide, varied diet.

This will make a neat person like Paul crazy, but because I eat so much fresh fruit and vegetables, from time to time, I get infested by fruit flies...(hummmm, trying to write a humorous piece for Paul caused me to look up fruit flies and solution's to these pests...other than my guest spider's dinner, and I found some)...Paul and I may tease each other once in a while...but this time this has come in quite handy. So thanks, Paul.

Best Wishes, Traveller

It’s one of the bazillion varieties of the cellar spiders. Harmless unless you’re a bug. Paul.

Very nice. What gymnastics did it take to shoot this? Did you try a vertical crop?

I wonder what kind of spider that is. It lacks the barbs the one I shot had.
