It' amazing, this old pond out in the sage has been a rest-over spot for both swans and pelicans for as long as I have been photographing that area. It's used to water a ranchers livestock heard as well as irrigate his hay fields. Towards Fall it practically dries up, but yet the pelicans retune to feed and rest up before there continued flight...

Hi Tom, I'm still using my 7D, but I have a different noise ware I'm using. Imagenomic 5.0. It is a very good software and gives one a verity of settings for different types of images. One thing I have to be careful about is just how much correction I use. If I get carried away my image tends to look a bit soft and some details in hair and feathers are lost.

Good Evening, After much browsing and consideration I finally purchased a Nest NT-530 H Gimbal Head. As you stated the head you have is a bit expensive and I was not ready to pay that much for a head. The Nest NT-530 H is somewhat of a new model but it is modeled after the Wimberly and is built from carbon steel. I went out yesterday and did some shooting with it and found it to be very smooth in tracking and up and down movement. The workmanship is very well done and I know I well enjoy using it. I'm really surprised at the lack of weight the head gives my camera and lens. Check out my PAD gallery, I'll be uploading a picture of it just as soon as I finish this note....Gary

Yes, I did get close, which surprised me. We were on our way home when I spotted this Eagle in a tree next to the road. I slowly drove towards the Eagle expecting it to fly, but it remained there and allowed me to get a series of nice close-ups. Our area is becoming home to many more Pairs than what we have had in the past....

Morning Tom, We left our home at five in the morning and drove in a Spring Snowstorm most of the way. When we arrived at Freeze-out my truck thermometer read 21 degrees F, the wind chill was near or below zero degrees. Yes the light was nice for the morning flights but turned cloudy in the early afternoon. It was sooo cold my camera batteries were in consent need of recharging and at times the auto focus motor slow in responding, other than that it was a very nice outing...

Thanks Tom, I have to admit that mineral springs was taken last year. When I visited the same springs this year it was dry and enshrouded by a smoke haze. I spent two days looking for some nice Fall images which included Teton National Park. The Tetons were covered with a smoke haze and the famous Ozbow was next to impossible for any decent images.

We are pleased with our Travel Trailer and Tundra.. There are just the two of us now and we do not require a lot of room, just shelter from the weather and a nice shower LOL. That was my wife's concern.. The Tundra has performed quit well on the road and mountains. It has a load hauling feature that shifts down on the steep grades and I'm quite pleased with the gas mileage (10-12) miles per...

With gas prices like they are, my old dodge four by has a voracious appetite, I have been spending more time at the Refuge. Most of my subjects have been the many varied ducks that are using the Refuge. Usually this time of year I'm out tracking down wildflowers...

Thanks Tom.. I'm seeing many more pintails and wegeons this year, than in years past, and both species of goldeneye. I wanted to put up my blind this year but the new superintendent has new regulations in place that well not allow that. You have to draw for the permanent blinds and they are taken before the season gets under way...

They tend to hang out in the center of the marsh area and getting a nice image is nearly impossible..

Tom, Great gallery, I especially enjoyed the Owls and Thailand gallleries. I have been to Thailand several times on business but never had time to do any photography. I was in Othello last week photographing the Burrowing Owl fledglings and the Yellowheaded Blackbirds. Tom, you have some amazing galleries. You even got some wonderful pictures of woodpeckers of which I am still determined to get one day. I have the Red-bellied and Downy woodpeckers everday. I have the Yellow-bellied Sapsucker in the winter. I see on occasion the Northern Flicker, Red-headed and the Pileated woodpeckers. Still working on getting them.

Tom: I was showing my daughter the PBase galleries of some of the photographers who have commented on my photos and it gave me a chance to really look through your work. I had seen your photos posted on PaD and had dropped in to take a look at some others, but after spending some time looking through your galleries this evening my reaction can be reported in one very short word: WOW! The photos are consistently high quality. The sheer volume of bird images is amazing. The owl gallery is magnificent. My daughter, who is seldom impressed by anything, put it best: "He is really good." After browsing through your galleries I decided I had better go back to posting horse racing photos for a few days and regroup a bit before I start posting birds again. Your galleries made it very clear that I've got to lift my game! pat
