I've been going to Northern Florida for my cave training and diving since 2008. I did my basic course at Ginnie Springs with Jim Wyatt http://www.cavediveflorida.com/ , and continued with Jim for my Full Cave course in 2011 with my husband Joe. I can highly recommend Jim, the training was excellent, I learned lots and had fun doing it. We will plan at least a couple of trips per year to the Florida area to keep building on the skills we learned, and expand on our training.

We learned that Ginnie Springs is "high flow", and certainly appreciated that by the first day of training dives. Pulling ourselves down through the "chimney" into the Devils Ear cave.. that was interesting. Being a Bay of Fundy diver, I thought I knew current!

Lodging was at the High Springs Country Inn http://www.highspringscountryinn.com/ , basic lodging but it's a divers hang-out. Never know who you'll run into there!

Florida weather can be great in May/April.. can be pretty damp too! Regardless, the water temp is a steady 72F year round. In April, Northern Florida may experience flooding which can close many of the caves, but Ginnie Springs usually remains open and crystal clear.

The experience with the training was incredible. I did my basic training in 2008, returned in 2009 for a refresher to keep the training going, and then again in 2010 for my Honeymoon! I was thrilled to complete the training in 2011 with my husband, and now the cave diving adventure continues... :)
