October 2008 update: Here we are on the verge of another presidential election. It's interesting to look at the comments below (mostly vitriolic) in light of what's happened since I originally posted photographs of demonstrators. Once again, I urge all to use their votes wisely.

You don't think the Islamists want to kill you too?? You don't think they would just assume cut your throat and send it over the internet as to care if your a free American excercising your right?? Are you just a Buch basher or do you hate EVERYONE on the right of you or who doesn't agree with you?? Do you have a job??? Why weren't you working that day?? Why don't you go join the Army or Marines and do something constructive with yourself. You'd probably be happier with yourself and your country.

It amazes me how these people call for peace and love then in the next breath use every profanity known to man to describe those who they disagree with. If they were sincere they'd be criticizing the president's policies not him as a fellow human being. Small minds can't distinguish between the two I guess.

Amazing how some can label you a traitor and advocate your hanging merely for posting these signs on the web. Guess that author has never heard "I disapprove of what you say, but I will defend to the death your right to say it." or "If there is any principle of the constitution that more imperatively calls for attachment more than any other, it is the principle of free thought - not for free thought for those who agree with us, but freedom for the thought we hate."

Very nice collection and very well taken. Not just the-run-of -the-mill; good care has been taken to frame every image with a nice shallow dof to emphasise the subject. I also like the handling of contrast and colour balance in a difficult lighting situation. Gets my vote (apart from the subject itself ;-)

disclosure: i am this fella's brother in law lots of protest sign galleries either seem to take photos of every sign at the march, or have no sense of humor. you've been selective, have a great eye for the gems, and still manage to shoot gobs of these things! i am not sure how effective these things are as tools of political dissent, but they sure crack me up. anyone who brings a real live toilet seat to a political protest deserves to have his picture on the internet.
