Hello Dave, I thoroughly enjoy your pictures. Will be back to see more of your work. Chat with you on Strasburg. Take care, be well be safe.
You have some amazing galleries, especially the cats and English gardens. I shall keep coming back.
I've really enjoyed your rail photos. I've never been to the UK, but I would say that U have a much greater variety than we do here in the US.
A few years ago (early 2008) U made a series of posts about installing the DK-17m & the
DK-19. I've also read other posts on that subject & I'll be damned if I can get both attached. The one question I have never figured out is, are U & others who successfully attach these 2 pieces, keeping the small, flat rubber disc that stretches over the metal ring attached along w/ the DK19. I didn't explain this very well, but there is a small flat (except for a small flap that wraps around & under the metal bezel) rubber ring. Are both round annular devices being attached or is the smaller flat disc (that protects spectates from being scratched) being omitted?
I've struggled w/ this till I was red faced & sweat was dripping.
Your comments would be deeply appreciated, Jay Drew
A very interesting page of faces on the Bluebell Railway. I was particularly struck by the photos of Alan Barrett, who you describe as Engineman Extraordinaire. I used to know Alan in the 1960s when we were both so very young, but lost touch long ago. Does Alan still work on the Bluebell and why is he Extraordinaire?

i can see that you love cats and gardens and so do I. Peter, from Italy with a great desire to return to England and wander around(if I'm not ot old) manors and gardens.
My cousin lives in Surrey and so I have already been to Polesden Lacy, Painshill, Box Hill and so on and wish to see those places once more(in my life and not as a ghost).
Wonderful photos. Cheers Peter
thanks for the opportunity to look and reminisce about an english garden. this morning at breakfast i thought i would look for photographs, and i found them, a wonderful collection. i doubt if i will ever visit one again, but i now know where to go to refresh my mind
superb images, will check your site on regular basis.
Just been looking at your cats and garden galleries Dave. You really do have a wonderful eye for photography. Keep it up.
hi dave! i had enjoyed the most of your pics - the cats and the railway-pics are my favorites ;-) thx for your great work (and sorry for my english).
I do enjoy good photography, though I'm more used to professional work - but it rarely has the charm and joy of amateur work. As my father administered British Transport Films (BTF) which had a stills department I was lucky enough to have my passport photos taken by them.
I was particularly taken by your GOS collection as I'm a real steam fan - R_E_A_L!
As I've told you (I think) my father's unit, BTF, made a film for the BBC called "Giants Of Steam" - but their best were, in, my opinion, "Snow" and "Rail", both made by Geoffrey Jones - who also used still images to great effect in "Locomotion" (the one he made for BTF that wasn't nominated for an Oscar).
And as for Gjon Mili's "Jammin' The Blues" - that really shows how stills techniques can be beautifully used in movies.
Dave, love your photos.I've lived in Aubagne in Provence these last twenty years but I'm originally from Merstham, down the road from you.Provence is beautiful but nothing here compares to the beauty of the Surrey countryside.I have fond memories from my boyhood of sunday cricket matches and country walks. They spoilt all that with the M25!Still,your photos bring back fond memories.Tony Walsh
I started off with the English Gardens but had to look at more of your gallerys. All I can say is WONDERFUL!
I am so enjoying your galleries Dave. Such a wide range of subjects and all photographed brilliantly. I have book marked your site and will return when ever i need some cheering up.
Thanks for your comments on my Wonderful Town gallery. I was not the official photog on that show, but took some shots one night of a friend in the cast. I'm glad you liked them, but that was the darkest (in terms of lighting, not content) show I ever tried to shoot. At that time the D3 had not even been announced, but I sure could have used one, since I had plenty of trouble getting usable shots with the D2X.
I've got a D3 in my future in a couple of months, and am looking forward to its low light ability. My next show that I am the official photog for is chicago , and I expect that one to be pretty dim too (lightwise)
Actually, my "Beauty" gallery is my favorite show gallery, I was involved in that one from the very first day, and took lots of black and white rehearsal shots with a Fuji S5, which I have now sold to help pay for the D3. There are a few color D2X shots at the end of that gallery, all done with multiple SB 800's
Lovely work. Share more please.
I have great respect for your work.
Great shots, really enjoyed wandering through your gallery.
Your flowers are very pretty, especially the Ceanothus, I love blue flowers!!
keep creating... Kris
Hi Dave, BrianE from the Surrey ng here! Really like many of your pics. Some from the garden are particularly good. Alas I'm cack handed with a camera but always enjoy viewing pics.
Super images. Thanks for your excellent gallery of photos. I particularly liked your Cornwall 2005 photos ... really superb!
I spent some time looking at your photos this morning and found your site very easy to look at. Your style of photography is relaxing to the viewer.
Just love all of your images.
CITY OF BATH LOOKS GREAT TO LIVE IN
KEEP THEM COMING
Nice set of images, Sgt. Pepper, especially the candids and technical shots! As a long time amateur and semi-pro waiting for a new Nkon D-200 to add to and likely replace some well long used and loved film cameras, I am most impressed with the overall quality from your D2H! I look forward to similar time in the field at significantly higher res.
Cheers from California!
I saw your wonderful pictures in ABPO and just had to see more. What beautiful galleries you have here. My favorites are the people shots, and the ones from the English gardens, and those beautiful cats, and oh heck I just loved them all .
Spt Pepper (Dave), this is JMD-2X from DpReview D2 Forum. Could I also ask your to send the Andrew Raszevski's latest customer curve - #060606.ntc? The link is busted.
Thanks in advance,...

Lovely pics Dave, but I am a bit biased - I'm the guy flying the Airborne glider! I particularly like the launch sequence. I'm going to send the link to family and friends so hopefully they'll have a look too. Any chance of copies on a CD?

Nice cars...."I'm In Love With My Car" Roger Taylor of Queen, circa 1975, "A Night At The Opera".
Thanks for all your comments.
I'v had the camera only 2-3 weeks.
As i mentioned earlier, i'm very new to all this New Technology (although i'v been involved with computers Etc. since the late 80's, maintenance of computer controlled test equipment for aircraft engine control (RR, P&W & BMW RR) ).
I'v now managed to collect things around me & trying to use them.
I'v a Minolta Dimage 7i, i have access to both Photo shop 6 & Paint shop 7 (all legitimate & registered.)
The camera is my second (sorry 3rd did have a Sony BUT that took a dive into the Norfolk Broads!) i'v still got a HP 715 that was a replacement but the Minolta is my latest "Toy" as the wife calls it.
I again thank you for all your inputs as i get to know & should be able to use the camera better.
OR Alan & Vicky
(Like others i did attempt a 'direct' E-mail)!!
Very good Dave! Nice shots of the cars and the trains. Keep up the good work.
A lovely website to visit Dave. I like the trains very much - my father use to take me to the Railway Station whenever there would be a steam train coming through - so my love for them has grown from there :-)
I have added your site to my favorites and will certainly return.
Thank you for sharing.
Hi Dave. I tried to email you, unsucessfully. I have done a sketch of Tom based on your photo with some tulips and hyacinths(inspired by Jan's lovely flowers),in the background, and a similar one of Twink. If you send me your email address, I'll be happy to send them to you. I'm a bit shy of posting my artwork on the group. Thanks, Gin

Hi, Dave. Nice gallery! The kitty cat photos are great!
You are a hard guy to get a hold of I sent you an email but it bounced back. I also posted a message on the newsgroup too I am sorry if I seem pushy, I don't mean to.
I am looking for permission to use your "Snow On Rose" photograph that I downloaded from ABPO. I make at least 4 calendars a month to post on my web site for anyone to download if they wish and I would like to use your photograph. Of course I will place a link to your site and also add your url to my links.
Please contact me by email or through the newsgroup
