fern1600.jpg

The fern was shot at ISO 1600 with the same treatment. It would be easy to remove this noise, but instead, it is emphasised slightly to go with the soft focus treatment. It would be necessary to make a 30 x 20 inch print to get the full effect, in contrast to the 3200 result, where a 13 x 19 wouldbe OK. It pays to crop a 3200 down, using only half the image, for a really good grain effect on a typical A3 print size. 100mm f2.8 Minolta SF lens at maximum 3 setting, and the Alpha 350 on 1600, processed from raw with ACR zero luminance NR, 50 chroma NR, 25 sharpening to produce a crisp grain effect.
