Stuart - thanks for the comment. The eyecatcher is a folly, or a "sham ruin". It is just outside the village of Steeple Aston and was built in the 18th Century by the landscaper William Kent. William was employed by the owner of Rousham House, Sir James Dormer, to landscape his gardens. The eyecatcher is part of this work.
