I stumbled onto your website while looking for photos of my hometown. Im from the Cape Ann area in Mass. Your pictures are stunning! I read your profile and was surprised that you are not a from this area. The way you have captured the true essense and beauty of the landscape here, I would have thought otherwise. Would love to hear what inspire you to bring your talent out this way (read you are from Cali)
Thank You

I also have come looking for your work after receiving my Marin Magazine. I wasn't sure it was even a photograph on the cover--amazing. I'm about to buy my first camera with lenses since high school and I'm very inspired!

Congratulations on the photograph on the cover of Marin magazine. It was so stunning, I had to find out who took it, and lo and behold, it's someone I know: YOU! Congratulations. It's so rewarding to see your on-going work. Best---Derek

I am a recent lover of Geese /Goslings. I live on a lake in Indinapolis IN and watched as "Romeo & Juliet" had a family. After around 30 days Juliet had her day and all of a sudden I saw 6 new Goslings!I was so thrilled. It was short lived though, Romeo decided to re-locate his family and I have not seen them since! Just like kids, they break your heart!

Hi Della,
It's your cousin Rosanne from NJ. Your striking photos each tell a distinct story. I marvel at your skill. I hope it's a family trait that I share since I'm finally putting my young readers' stories down on paper. My storytelling has been a hobby that I'm now trying to market. If you know of anyone that would like to take a peek at "The Dreaded Babysitter" and it's sequel please send them my way. May you enjoy continued success as you use your special gift. Hi,
Just spent an enjoyable hour meeting your family. Most of us have no idea who any of our eight greatgrand parents were, that makes the work you have done here invaluable to your next generations. Keep that stuff safe and try and find a young one who shares your enthusiasm.
All those beautiful galleries will require a future visit.
Cheers from Kingston,
Michael

Hello from Cambridge, England!

Just seen your wonderful pictures on your web site whilst browsing. They are excellent! And you look beautiful! (stunning, actually)

I have just spent nearly two hours looking at your photos and I haven't found a bad one! You are very talented and extremely beautiful.

My wife and I visited Boston in 2000 and thought it was lovely (albeit a bit of a building site at the time!) We hope to return some day.

Good luck with your business (not that you need any luck, by the looks of it!)

Cheers

Clive.

Loved your 'Sunspot, Franconia, NH ' - Beautiful image. I see we've been to many of the same places. I grew up in Northern California, moved to the Boston area (where we live now), and I spend as much time as I can hiking the White Mountains of NH. Went to college in Amherst as well. I have enjoyed viewing your galleries - great work!

Your galleries are all wonderful. Sometimes, when I go through some ppl's pbase site, even their pictures are great, however, I feel like some of their pictures are over-rated. (You know seems like once you get popular, ppl would praise whatever you do...) Nevertheless, I love most of your pics, they are all with passion and good quality, I dont think any of them are over-rated, well, maybe some of them are under-rated...:)

I thoroughly enjoyed viewing your pictures. You take beautiful photos. I would love to download a few shots to frame and put in my home if that would be okay. I cannot afford to purchase any at this time. I take pictures now and then but don't even get close to your quality. My son just moved to Charleston, SC. I visited and took many shots of the beautiful iron gates and doors and mansions. You would have a ball there. My other son attended Wesleyan and played baseball for the Cardinals. When he played spring ball in Miami, we spent time in South Beach and I took phots there. I took many of the unique lifeguard stands and some lovely cactus plants and sunsets. Keep clicking away; your work is wonderful. I live in Hull, MA and love spending time in Boston. Your view of our city is heartwarming. Thanks, Linda

I just returned from your city(yes, you've earned that distinction!)a few hours ago with my Mamiya in hand after another breathless day in search of the perfect image. Maybe it was an X-mas wreath hung over wrought iron along Commonwealth, frog pond skaters, gas lights on Acorn, or civil war ghosts along Beacon.. It really is an amazing place, and there are times when everything calls out to be photographed.
I keep telling myself that one of these days I'll go to Boston w/o my cameras, be in the moment, and just enjoy a day without obsessing over light and shadow. But this never seems to happen. I'm almost surprised I haven't run into you at some point Della. We've certainly covered a lot of the same ground. Wish I could say I've done justice to it the way you have. I love looking at your work though and would enjoy meeting you sometime. Thanks for reminding me why I love Boston so much!

Sincerely,

Mike

Hi, glad to find your versatile galleries, and glad to know that you are also in Boston. Your Boston galleries are fantastic! I need to learn from you. Thanks for your comment. The blue sky in the sunflower photos were as it was when I took the photos, really sunny sky with lots of white clouds. I did use polarizer to enhance the blue color and I don't need to enhance it anymore in PS:)

Della,
I just returned from Boston, and I discovered your Boston gallery just before I left. I used to work as a photojournalist before I became a lawyer. I took my old Minolta 35mm camera with wide angle/telescopic lens to Boston, and I'm eagerly awaiting the return of my developed photos. You really captured some beautiful shots of Boston. They're really gorgeous, just like you.

Della, I have enjoyed looking at your work. My images are on photo.net, and if you would like to see them write back and I will send you the link to my page. I like your philosophy on post editing. I shoot with film only at the present time, and just as of yesterday may only be working with my old manual Canon FTB, as I may have ruined my Canon EOS, by unwittingly leaving it out during a night of rain. Ooops.
I hope to hear back from you, Regards, Todd (on the other coast)

Guest 16-May-2005 18:36
Della, my name is Dr. Layton Smith.  I am a veterinarian working for the United States Depaerment of Agriculture (USDA).  Two years ago, California suffered an outbreak of a deadly avian disease called exotic Newcastle.  Over four million birds died or needed to be destroyed to stop the spread of the disease.  The disease effected poultry and pet birds.  Following the disease eradication, the Avian Health Group was established as a cooperative effort between the California Department of Food and Agriculture and the USDA to prevent such diseases.  Biosecurity is a key ingredient of any disease prevention program.  For each of the last two years we have developed and distributed "biosecurity bird calendars" to the fairs, bird auctions, pet bird stores, feed stores, and avian veterinarians in California. These calendars are funded by our two agencies and are free to the bird owners of California.  Nearly 500,000 calendars have been distributed the past two years.  We currently have three types of calendars:  baby poultry, rooster, and exotic pet bird.  The baby poultry calendar, for instance, has monthly pictures of baby chicks, duck and geese, along with a monthly biosecurity suggestion, health tip and at the bottom of every page the words "Provided courtesy of the Avian Health Group NOT FOR RESALE".  The goal of all three calendars is to educate  bird owners on ways to keep their birds healthy and free of disease.  Each year we search for new photos for next year's calendar.  We now are preparing for the 2006 calendar. Unfortunately, the photographers that contribute their photos, are not rewarded monetarily.  We do however, recognize the photographer (not the web site) at the bottom of the picture.  A written release for the one time use of that photo is also a government  policy.  We saw your photos of the signets on PBASE and decided to ask you if you would allow us to possibly use one of them in next year's calendars. If your photo is selected you will receive a letter of gratitude for your photo contribution to the Avian Health and a coulple copies of the calendar once it is finished.   If you are interested, please call me at 1-562-310-0912 or E-mail me at Layton.Smith@aphis.usda.gov. Your help would be greatly appreciated.  It is a worthy cause.  Sincerely, Layton Smith DVM..Director of Biosecurity..Avian Health Group..Garden Grove Calif.

Della,

I think there’s some great work in your galleries. The gallery style (dimmed thumbnails) does not do justice to the quality of your shots. Its so hard to see what you’ve capture so well. However, I will keep trying if you keep posting.

Thanks for sharing.
