From late summer through Nov 5th we have only seen four different deer; Queenie and Precious from previous seasons and Queenie's new youngsters, a little button buck and a dainty little girl. We recognize Queenie from her protective behavior and the scar on her nose which has become more visible with her winter coat.
Precious has grown a lot this year, we identify her by the small white spot in the corner of her left eye. When she first showed up, she was thin and her ribs were very prominent. Since we started feeding them corn and oats around the middle of October she is beginning to put on some weight.
Thank you Terri and Jay! Most of the recent ones were taken through an insulated window and are fairly close, from a distance of 8' to 30'(?). Also...Jay, the adult deer are accustomed to us since we have been feeding them for the past five winters. Please see the other gallery links at the top of the page for prior years.
