The castle that sits in the bay is the most obvious one, but the land castle (to which it was joined when designed) is much easier to visit, and impressive. I have visited it several times, my December 2011 was so exhaustive that I decided to put those pictures in a sub-gallery of the Kızkalesi one.
It was probably founded by the Armenian kings the Roebenids. It was in Cypriotic hands in 1361 and was conquered in 1448 by the Karaman emir.
With the View Map facility you can see that I first took pictures from the sea side. I then entered the castle and toured the north and east side of the castle, then the south, next took pictures in the inner parts and then on to the west side, facing the sea. In 2015 I visited again, again using GPS. I am adding captions and try to regroup pictures, so the itinerary no longer holds.
