Hello Dave, sorry for the lack of response. I don't check the guestbook very often.

I did the axle "flip" because Fleetwood designed the suspension too low for my tastes with a pop up this long. I even added 1-2" of height to the suspension of my previous Jayco because the tires were rubbing the wheel wells. It seems to be a common issue with PUP manufacturers.

I have not experienced any wheel wearing on the inner sides of the tires. But when I bought this used, the existing tires were very badly worn on the insides. This generally comes from overloading the axle's capacity. Your PUP has a maximum carrying capacity of 865 pounds. You should factor in the weight of the battery (40-60 pounds), LP tanks (38 pounds x 2), water (26 gallons for 216 pounds), air conditioner (104 pounds) and any other add-ons (no, those are not factory-installed) plus the weight of all gear you add. With just the features listed above, you are down 446 pounds of the total 865 capacity before you add any of YOUR gear.

So, either your axle is being overloaded because you are exceeding its weight limit (regardless of specifications, you may have exceeded its functional capacity) and forcing the axle to bend too much, or the axle has become bent. If it is bent, there are a few places that can fix that but it is basically lifting the PUP up with only support directly in the middle of the axle to put a camber back into. Risky and imprecise. A new axle purchase is the best remedy in that case.

Hope this helps and sorry for the long delay.

Hi Eric, saw your pictures of your camper and had a few questions, why did you flip the axle? and did you experiance any tire wear problems before hand?Im asking because my 2006 Fleetwood Bayside is wearing out tires badly on the inside of both sides, cupping its like the axle is bent.Is there any way to allign the wheels to correct this?thanks Dave

Dear Kristi,
We looked at your pictures from Peru, especially those taken at Machu Picchu. We printed some of them to give to a couple from our church who is going there next month with a group from Texas A & M. Thanks for giving us your web site. Enjoyed some of your family pictures with Micah. Hope you had a wonderful Christmas with him.

Hello Eric and Christi: Time indeed has slipped away since we saw you in Duluth last July. Much has happened here, but it is difficult to write because of censorship. We will be in Duluth next week if all goes as planned. Please update us concerning your lifes and Micah. I will probably craft a news letter in the states where I can express myself freely.
