Hamburg, 01/29/2014 • Olympus introduces first camera with dot-sight – Olympus is breaking new ground with the world’s first dot-sight camera. The sight works in tandem with the newly-developed 1:2.9-6.5 24-1200mm* 50x optical (100x at Super Resolution) Ultra Zoom lens to enable easy high-power zooming and subject capture, making it ideal for spotting moving and distant subjects such as wildlife and planes, or for sports photography. The built-in sight is stowed for portability, and pops up instantaneously for shooting – two key advantages compared with an externally-mounted sight. The SP-100EE also features a deeply-shaped grip for optimal handling during shooting, while the single-finger operation control dial allows for a professional shooting style when using the electronic viewfinder. Further ease of use comes with a new focus limit button, with settings for focus limit off, focus only in near area and focus only in the distance. Available in black from March 2014, the camera will cost €399.00, making it the solution of choice for people who require ultra zoom on the move.
The SP-100EE – taking you closer to your subject
The 24-1200mm* Ultra Zoom lens positively invites the user to explore its full potential (50x optical zoom, or 100x at Super Resolution Zoom). Those action sports shots you’ve always dreamt of taking? Wildlife spotting in incredible detail? Capturing planes as they land or take off? It’s all here, waiting to be discovered, along with a Super Macro for subjects as close as 1 cm away from the lens.
Great looks, superb handling
Eschewing the curved lines and surfaces often favoured when designers focus on handling, the DSLR-oriented looks of the SP-100EE embrace distinctive straight lines for sharp, edgy styling, whilst also offering improved grip performance. The elastomer material of the grip combines softness with a rough, non-slip pebbled texture.
Packed with technology
The dot sight on the SP-100EE is a world first, and ideal when shooting with distant or moving subjects, since it functions as framing assist and takes the hard work out of keeping a moving object in focus throughout shooting. iHS technologies enable you to capture the shots you want irrespective of the conditions (max. ISO 6400), while using an optional FlashAir card (with wireless LAN function) allows you to connect the camera to a Wi-Fi enabled smartphone or PC and view or import images from the FlashAir card. The camera can also shoot smooth 60p Full HD movies.
Photography with style and intelligence
The SP-100EE comes with a selection of Art Filters, allowing the user to get creative. To make the most of the camera’s ultra zoom capability, a lens shift image stabilization mechanism significantly reduces camera shake. Shooting in dark locations is further enhanced by the performance of the bright lens. And the camera's 16 Megapixel BSI CMOS sensor combines with the nextgeneration TruePic VII processor to get the very best out of its highperformance optics.
