Sigma 300mm F4 APO Macro HSM
Launched February 1997
Sigma 300mm F4 HSM
Sigma have added another lens to their new range of Hyper Sonic Motor lenses – the 300mm f4 APO Macro HSM.
The 300mm F4 APO Macro lens was originally launched in late 1994. It was the worlds first apochromatic ultra telephoto lens with a macro capability of 1:3 reproduction ratio. The lens was very well received by the public, and received the European Lens of the Year Award ’95-’96. It would seem impossible to improve on this particular lens but Sigma have done so by adding a Hyper Sonic Motor. The HSM system produces very fast, virtually silent auto-focusing which is both highly accurate and responsive.
Sigma have incorporated a new clutch mechanism which means it is possible to fine tune the auto focusing manually without recourse to a switch. The Zen finished 300mm f4 APO Macro HSM lens comes complete with a retractable lens hood, hard carrying case and detachable tripod collar. It is available in Canon and Sigma AF mounts at £699.95 and is covered by Sigma’s 3 Year UK warranty.
