Hoping you have a wonderful holiday season...watching the Sound of Music, set in Austria. A very popular musical movie in the USA. Is it very popular in Austria?

Thanks for the input on the polar bears. I can agree on the ones you said no to for the calendar. As for removing the stone in the pic I guess i'm a bit of a purist and wouldnt do that, kind of get what you see. Of course its my own fault for not spotting it at the time, but time was precious. I took a brief glance at your gallery 5 million visits that is a wow. I'll take a keener look and try and get some tips! Nice shooting. Giles

I enjoyed watching some of your galleries. I like mostly the Poeple gallery which was fantastic and in many cases funny stories. Also in meaning of good photography the Orange collection amazed me.

I'll check the other galleries later.

I wanted to thank you very much for having help me making other Pbasers to discover the "2CV Turbo-nautiques" races. Due to your comments and your message in the Pbase forum, this gallery is on the 2nd page of the popular galleries on a 7 days period ! Erich,
Great set of gallery you have created. I am sure it has taken you a lot of time and effort to put them together. Well done!

Also thank you for comments in my galleries. I know I have small images, this is to prevent and theft of images. But with all that, I discovered a local publisher using my photos on the cover of one of their publications.

Thank you for visiting and leaving your comment. Always impressive to realize that bigotry and anti-religious sentiment still rests just below the skin in so many Europeans. To think that Sadam had to bribe people in Europe when they'd have let him kill Jews for free.

Hi Erich,
It is always a delicious adventure "travelling" through all your magnificent works and, besides, a rare opportunity to take some lessons, "free of charge", about the real concept of photography.
You are, obviously, among the Top 10 best (and mainly most creative) Artists on PBase!!!

Hallo Erich Mangl.
Viele, vielen Dank.

Hallo Erich........

Erich,

Thank you for your comments on my Prague, Budapest, Vienna and Bratislava gallery. It's still under construction -- I just don't have time to process many of my pictures! I also quite enjoyed your Wien and Bush galleries. (The Wien gallery allowed me to see the many things I didn't because I was only there for two days or so, unfortunately.) I was curious -- you wrote "Hofburg" on my image of the two women dancing in the gate to the palace; is that the name of it? That picture was just luck; I didn't know them, they must have been moved by Vienna and suddenly started to dance!

Helen

Dear Mr. Erich Mangl,

Hello. I would like to SINCERELY thank you for your anti-Bush gallery, My Sight Of Things, http://www.pbase.com/erichmangl/msot). Personally, I do not gravitate to, nor indulge in, such illustrative rhetoric. I think that this (fight) is much closer to home, and in such being so, needs to be handled and dealt with by other means. You see, here in the USA, Florida, Tampa-Saint Petersburg area (all of these United States) the question of Bush and his policies is not just a matter of right and wrong, but also a matter of life and death! I do not belittle nor criticize your political expressions but embrace its underlying cause. I just feel that nothing can be accomplished through such sophomoric tactics. As I stated, I SINCERELY appreciate your gallery; but CHANGE will not be forthcoming through a strategy such as yours.

Education and activism is the key. Educating oneself, not just through daily newspapers and broadcast television news (for non cable subscribers) but also THROUGH ALTERNATIVE SOURCES such as BBC World. Balance is key. We have here in this area a COMMUNITY RADIO STATION, WMNF 88.5 radio available on air and on the web to expand our horizons. Also activism, engage your Federal and state representatives, become involved with the political process. Write, email and visit your representatives. Let them know how you feel. AND VOTE!

I would like to say sir, that there was one image in your gallery I did particularly enjoy. It was Easy Guy, http://www.pbase.com/erichmangl/image/28625743). It resonates and exemplifies the righteous dalliance of Bush as opposed to his handlers postulate. Amen!

Please, please understand. WE, are on the frontlines. Thank you.

Thank you for your time,

Scott

Danke Erich,

Dude, some of the pictures in the Bush-Bashing area portraying Jesus are just wrong. Sorry. You have issues. It ain't art. It's just trying to be perverse. Not defending Bush, because he's not the best prez either. Made a lot of dumb decisions (but some good). But do you want Kerry? He's got an excellent face to fool around with, I guess...

Did see some other pictures that were good!

Well that's my opinion.

Erich,

I want to thank you for the fantastic logo you made for www.seedsofdoubt.com.

I'm glad to see unlike some of these right wing jackoffs leaving you messages, you realize that there are thinking americans fighting this braying jackass of a president. From the moment that he was appointed in a historically unprecidented Supreme Court 5-4 split decision, he has run amok. In every regard he is the worst president I have ever seen in my 32 years. I find myself musing sometimes what it would be like to agree with a single domestic or foreign policy decision made by the Bush administration. Try as I might, I can't find one. I was glad he appointed Colin Powell but he blew that by marginalizing his good advice and co-opting his once internationally respected reputation for honesty to spread his lies and "faulty intelligence". I argue that the real faulty intelligence lies with the roughly 50% of our country that loves the guy.

The escape hatch from this social and political disaster is available to Americans on Novber 2nd. The nation could not wait to throw his daddy out. People of all ages, races, sexes, and ecomonic background came out to send the guy back to private citizenship. We must do the same this time around. The very veracity of his first election is the most challenged in the history of our country.

Remember what the first term has been like:
1) Historically massive job losses
2) A dramatic turn from the largest budget surplus in the history of the country to the largest budget deficit in the history of the country
3) Imposition of the Doctrine of Premption, a policy that by its very nature depends on the ability of our government to access absolute iron clad intelligence about the capabilities of the country's enemies. The unbelieveable level of innacuracy in our intelligence has clearly shown this national security policy to be completely untennable.
4) The first attack on the United States since 1949 despite clear indications from the same intelligence services that a large attack was coming fom several months in advance. There were clear indications that the attack would likely come in the form of a hijacking and the administration never even sent a memo to the airlines suggesting hightened threat. The prepetrators of the attack are for the most part still at lage and planning new attacks. Yet Bush claimes he is keeping up safe.

All of that and much much more was accomplished in a short three years while facing the need to run for reelection. Just imagine how he will act when he has a 4 year lame duck administration with no need to face reelection.

You are clearly making the right minded folks of the world happy and pissing off the rest. That's the best we can do. Keep up the great work. Less than 80 days now.

If you liked this site (or hate it for that matter) and want to see some more Anti-Bush art galleries please visit Distressed American Protest Art at:

Dear Erich Mangl,

I am curator for the invertebrates at the Natural histori Museum of Lugano (Ticino, Switzerland). I'm sorry to pass via the guestbool, bur I havent'found your E mail addres.
The shop coop, one the most widespread shop in our Canton, asked us to collaborate with them for the calendar 2005, dedicated to the relationship between nature and people. September is dedicated to the Macroglossum stellatarum. Unfortunately we dont'have got any good dias or photo of this species; on internet, on the site www.leps.it I found yours superbes photos on this species on the site of Pittaway and leps.it. I would like to know if it is possible to use yours photos; we can pay a copyright of 60 EUR. There is non commercial purpose abut this calendar (it is given as present at the end of the year to the clients of coop shops).

Please let me know your decision as soon as possible

best regards

Anna

Eric,
Wonderful, bizarre, surreal, sense of humor. Frank Zappa in pictures.
Terrific galleries. Great tongue in cheek, acerbic Bush bash.
Keep it up.

Hi,

Greetings from New Jersey, USA. Your Welcome. Very nice animations. Funny too. As a consientious American, I must say that your gallery criticizing the US is not insulting to America itself, but is truthfully describing our president and his policy. I really like your macro pictures as well. What camera don you use for it?

Hi Erich,
Went and had a look at your profile on photosig and saw your link to pbase.
I started out on pbase as well some time ago.
The pictures I've submitted here are not the kind I'm making and submitting now.
It was a pleasure browsing through your pictures here.
