Day 2 in Boracay...we were at the endpoint of Station 3 area...a few minutes after I captured the sunset (2005.01.21 Sunset In Boracay Gallery)...my wife told me that it seems there was a fire that broke out near Station 2, where our lodging house was located. We 'walked' fast...and OMG! our lodging house (La Isla Bonita Resort) was just a few meters from the 'Talipapa' area where the fire had started. I immediately went to our lodging house to get our baggages...
We tranfered to a lodging house which was located far from the 'fire' area...I was thinking that the La Isla Bonita Resort was 'eaten up' by the fire....
...the morning after, I checked the 'fire' area...and to my surprize...the La Isla Bonita Resort was in-tact...take a look at the images P1220913.JPG, P1220922.JP, P1220934.JPG ...and see how close the La Isla Bonita Resort was from the 'fire' area.
Just hope they don't ruin the feeling of the place by rebuilding as a tourist resort. Talipapa was a great place to shop as opposed to Demall. would really ruin it if they made it more commercial than it already is

I just returned from a week at "La Isla Bonita" during the beginning of November, 2006. The burned building is now nearly rebuilt. The construction crews work nearly 24 hours a day it seems. My room was directly next to the hammers and saws. The estimate for the building opening is February 2007. It will be a hotel of course.

This was a big surprise for me, i was just there 4 months ago and when i visited Boracay, i was wondering why there was a section of the tourist center looked like a junk yard...now i know why. Thanks for these photos and now i know what the 'scar' was on this beautiful paradise of Boracay island. *_*
