Le fort de Jaisalmer est le deuxième plus ancien fort du Rajasthan, construit en 1156 par le Rajput Jaisal. Ce fort se dresse au milieu de l’étendue sablonneuse du grand désert du Thar. Il est l'un des rares "forts vivants" au monde, car près d'un quart de la population de la ville y réside toujours.

Jaisalmer Fort is the second oldest fort in Rajasthan, built in 1156 by Rajput Jaisal. This fort stands in the middle of the sandy expanse of the great Thar desert. It is one of the few "living forts" in the world, as nearly a quarter of the city’s population still resides there.
