Fred are you around? If not, well it's just to let you know I'll be seeing you. It won't be that long.

Thanks for all of your comments. I was able to revisit your galleries and that was a lot of fun. I also viewed your video and how cool was that to be able to put a face and a voice to your work and comments. I'm afraid if I did that no one would ever look at my images again. Expanding light for you, C.

Hi Fred, great to hear from you. That was a short weekend trip to Dominican Republic, but we had a lot of fun. I got invited by a group of photographers which got a special permit to visit some islands in which these birds visit every year during their reproductive cycle. They were a great group, a lot of fun, and we are already planning our next trip in July next month.
Take care my friend,
Cesar

Hi Fred, I've admired your work for sometime and just wanted to let you know that and say hello. I'm also from NH and have traveled many of the same areas attempting to capture the beauty of New England; some coincidentally and some on purpose. Your great shots of the barn in Grantham inspired me to search it out and try my hand at it as well. I hope you don't mind sharing your favorite fishing-hole. I would have liked to see it before the development. While looking at your Washington Sunset shot I noticed the date and realized I had been in exactly the same spot a little over 24hrs before you were there. My shots didn't come close to your capture though. I enjoy your work and find it an inspiration to continue shooting our colorful state and its neighbors. Perhaps we'll cross paths in the field some day

Really great work Fred; insipring. I stubbled into your galleries from a Cesar Fernandez comment on mine and have spent the last 30 minutes looking around. Hello Fred, thanks for the comment on my black & white Coyotte Buttes image. Most people just stay around the 'wave' but there is so much more to that wonderful area.

Fred,

Thanks for you nice comment for my web site:http://worldphotogallery.net.

I looked at your photos. There are like paintings. Unbelievingly pretty. Great work.

I used only a digital camera, is that why it does not have the crystal clear nature as yours?

Gene Furr 16-Apr-2006 13:12
Fred,
You have the ability to see with strong composition and to understand how important lighting can be in making an image jump off the screen. I really enjoyed some of your images in the Maine, Arizona and New Hampshire galleries. I thought your flowers images were not up to the same standard as your other work which surprised me since you really have a good eye. Sometimes you need to think out the box when photographing flowers. Some of your images could use some cropping along with bring the tones down a little (darker). A lot of the corners are too light in my opinion. I would burn the corners down some to keep the eye on the main subject. My hat is off to you for the effort that you have given in searching for subjects. I can tell you are content with life from looking at your images. I wish you the best in the years to come. I really enjoyed your images. Gene Furr..retired chief photographer & photo coach

I like your images and wonder how much Photoshop you used...did you use the Velvia/Provia action on them or anything else to bring up the colours?.
I would like to try to do the same.
I would be grateful if you could email me.
Hoping to hear from you soon.

Hi Fred--Just got your message on my pbase site--thank you. Regarding whether or not I shoot colour and then convert--I am still one of those few that haven't totally converted to digital yet. I shoot large format b&w film and then scan. Maybe someday. I have tried colour but I feel it takes a "certain" eye to do colour well and I'm not sure I have it--I tend to see things in tonality rather than colour. That is why I have so much respect for great colour photographers such as yourself--not as easy to make a great colour photograph as most think. Thanks again and keep in touch.

I enjoyed your images quite a bit. I do, however, wish they were (in general) a tad bit larger, if only because occasionally the anticipated majesty of the thumbnail is disappointed by a not-much-larger full sized photo. Take that, nonetheless, as a compliment!

Hello Fred,
thanks a lot for visiting my galleries and the compliments! I think the color calibration of your computers are o.k., it's due to my pictures - I get same results on my laptop. Regarding the Provence gallery, the photos were taken in February and early March this year on Kodak slide materials, and believe me, there was no green at all in Provence during that time in the year, at least not in the places I've visited. I've checked my other galleries for the colors, and, obviously the green colors are not in my favor, more the blue, yellow and brown ones... I'll keep that in mind next time I'm out with my camera and try to re-focus myself on green colors, but winter time is approaching ;-)
Many thanks again for your comment, it's very much appreciated!
Kind regards,
rhett

Hi Fred,
This guest book comment isn't really doing justice to your work as it is among the best that I have seen. In truth I could have voted for each of the images that I browsed through. I am adding you to my list of favorites and will do so at a later date when I have more time.

Dear Mr. Parsons,
I consider myself lucky to have discovered your work. Your images are absolutely beautiful, especially from States that I admire. It was also an inspiration to know that you returned to photography later in life and have created all this great work. I too, have returned at 52, after 20 years. Because of my age, I was beginning to think I should just give it up after viewing all the excellent work of other young people on pbase. Well, you have recharged my batteries and look forward to learning and growing for the next 20 years. Perhaps when I'm 71, I too will be taking beautiful images like yours.
Kind Regards,

Hi Fred,

We have exchanged comments over dpreview and e mail, you as a seasoned photographer and me as a newbie.

Just been admiring and appreciating your gallery - it seems to me that you post superb pictures in dpreview................................................but

YOU KEEP ALL THE BEST HERE!!!

I really love your style of photography. Not quite sure what it is but you seem to capture a richness of colour within your compositions and which I really love.

Next time I go shooting landscapes I will look here first for inspiration and ideas.

Just wondrful Fred.

Hello fred!
Congrats to your images, I really like how you specialized in landscapes. Most of them look so vivid and entertaining that its hard to browse through them without loosing hours. Now, the only thing that spoils this experience that you upload such small images. I know, many ppl are afraid of their photos being stolen, but a res of 800x600 or the like should not prove any risk. Its too hard to really judge quality at the small sizes you show here.
Even 800x600 does not really allows judging, but at least it offers some more details. Is there any reasons you do not post larger?
Didier Vanderperre06-Apr-2005 00:09

Your photographs are so young and fresh and rich. We should all learn from you instead!
Alan Hartmann22-Feb-2005 01:02
Enjoyed browsing your galleries Fred, esp the NH and ME sections. You compositions and use of rich colors are very effective. It would be nice if they were a little bigger -- I'm aware of the concerns regarding mis-use of the photos -- but these images deserve to be seen at a slightly larger size.
Fred Parsons22-Feb-2005 00:59
David - Thanks for your remarks. In a number of my images I like to "print" the image in a way represents the way I "felt" when I took the image vs what the camera may have seen. Sometime that includes increasing the color saturation. What with the new increased saturation films that are out, filters, and the way over color saturated TV comercials are that we see every day, I think we get adjusted to seeing things in greater color than there may be present. The car comercials are THE example of this. There are other images that I do not change. There always seems to be a certain group that say to me: "Yeah, but you manipulate these images". Thank God Ansel Adams never did that!
David Warren22-Feb-2005 00:42
Fred ... I followed your note after your visit to my galleries. And what a festival of color I found! Not to mention your subject choice and impeccable composition of course. I wish I could learn to enhance color the way you have. (Excuse me if I'm being presumptuous, but I've never seen such colorful scenes in my real life.) I expect you're off to a good start thanks to the enthusiastic saturation of the Canon CCD and algorithms, but I think you've helped and done it in a most effective way. Thanks for the inspiration.
Peter Chou21-Feb-2005 02:22

It's true that your pictures are so evocative and look like painting, I'm so happy to have this chance to discover and enjoy them, following the link from your message in my gallery.
Being totally sincere I only regret that you post them in such a small size. I think they would be enhanced if we could see them in a larger format.
