The open star cluster NGC6231 is located close to Zeta Scorpii and is embedded in a huge region of emission nebulae. The brighter patch in the upper left corner is IC4628. A cometary globule is pointing from the right side towards NGC6231. The strong radiation from the young and hot stars of the star cluster are eroding and shaping a dense molecular cloud, which eventually will give birth to another star cluster.
