This is the biggest and brightest globular cluster in our skies. It is an easy naked eye object, visible as a fuzzy 'star' in the constellation Centaurus.
Recent investigations are pointing to the existence of a medium size black hole in the center, supporting the theory that the star cluster is actually the remaining core of a dwarf galaxy, whose outer shell has been wripped off by tidal forces from our Milky way.
