We have black bears roaming free and making their presents known. This was in the parking lot of a restaurant. The innkeeper was fined by the police for not keeping the lid fastened and "allowing" the bear to go through the trash. The policeman chased the bear away by making a lot of noise. The animal returned about an hour later and reentered the trash bin. He knew just how to do it.
