Tena koe (greetings in Maori) from New Zealand.
Following my discovery earlier today of your wonderful floral gallery I was naturaly drawn to check out the rest of what you have posted. Suffice to say that I am grateful I 'found' you, have immediately added your site to my favourites, and look forward to enjoying and learning from your fine work. Sincere thanks for sharing your talent with others.

Just come accross your galleries and your images really are fantastic and I especially like your very diverse B&W images. I will be spending some time cruising through them so I'll be around. Rudes from Cape Town.

Gus,

Your galleries really show what photography is all about. You try, try and try again with many different subjects from macros to guitars to landscapes and in between. You bring out the joy in photography!

Hello Gus. Thank you for your kind comment re my panoramic images. I feel lucky to live in New Zealand with the light we get here sometimes.....particularly in winter. Photoshop helps as well. You have some fine stuff in your galleries and I enjoyed your guitar shots....got me inspired to try something with my harmonicas but I suppose I will have to clean out the toast crumbs and other crud first.

Thank for your visit to my galleries with enlightening comments. I use Canon macro ring lite MR-14EX. I always turn the flash exposure to -12/3 and a R to L (L to R) ring ratio 2:1.

Very imaginative works in your galleries and some I found quite thought provoking!
You have the talent to compose your work with great care producing some excellent shots from 'mood' to beauty, plus combinations of both to achieve images I would be proud to have produced. Well done Gus, a pleasure to see them.

Hi Gus,

Thanks for stopping back and commenting on the gallery again. Time seems to be an ever present enemy of mine and I have been somewhat slow of late to express my appreciation for your taking the time to comment on my work. I have seen some of your images too (enjoyed them) and will be back to comment soon. Stephen

Hi Gus -
I've really appreciated your comments in my galleries, and felt guilty that I've been so busy on the bear project to really look at yours. Now that I've worked through just your newest images and seen the range and quality of your work, I will be back often. I'm really looking forward to going through the rest of your galleries!

Hi Gus!
Time for a guestbook entry... :)
First of all I want to thank you for your consistently thoughtful & most generous comments on my work.
I always enjoy visiting your galleries, where I can see your mind bubbling with creativity.
I like how you show us your little corner of the world (lol) in its amazing colours & moods.
I also love your special touch of humour, your titles are often quite challenging! :)

Gus, thanks for the comment. As you saw the image was taken at 06h03. The camp gates opened at 06h00 and the waterhole is just outside the camp. As soon as other cars arrived he made for the water.
The fact that he was outside with blood still on his mouth was strange as they usually kill and eat under water. I saw no remains of a meal around him so I can only presume that he had just finished and came out for the daily sun, unfortunately he took the wrong spot. Regards. Arno.

Gus. thanks for the visit and comments. The Njala is on the endangered list and very few left in the Park. If you see one you must take a shot and hope fr the best. They look almost like the kudu but prefer thick bush, almost like the bushbuck. So I would say look like kudu live like bushbuck.

Arno

Hi Gus!

Thanks for looking at my galleries. You're right. It was the "vog" that made those weird sunset colors. Picture taken on the southwest shore of the Big Island. BTW, lots of wonderful images in yor galerries. I particularly like some of the super-sharp macro stuff and beautiful sunsets! Your "just for fun" pictures are great--very original.

Gus,

Thanks for the kind words you left in my gallery of Hurricane Katrina photos. Needless to say, the photos I've posted display a small "sliver" of the destruction and human misery this has hurricane delivered to our region.

I'll share with you this note that a friend, who lost her home sent to me...

"Do you realize what this storm has done? She has made us see, she has made us look, she has asked us to be and do and have what we didn't know were part of this life Time, this time we call our lives. God, I hope she has made us wake up to our riches and our blessings and our rides and our stops and our kindnesses and our loves and hates and despairs. All of it. She has made us closer to ourselves and to each other.".

peace and health,
-sm

Hello Gus R.
I have noticed your comments in my suggestions gallery. Thanks for the input. I am actually going to start working with the blending thing in the near future. Graduated filters sound like their a pain in the arse! I noticed that your under construction website revolves around mtn. biking in southern Cal? My dad just moved to Yucaipa near Redlands and I have been wanting to find out some of the better rides in the area. I live in Prescott, AZ. If I have to drive (preferably not) to riding sites, that's OK. I know their has to be some great riding around Mt. Gorgonio and Mt. San Jacinto.
Let me know if you know this area. Keep shooting.
Matt
