This Blanding's Turtle c/w camouflage was first noted and photographed at AHP by two fellow Ottawa photographers, Penny and Linda. To our knowledge no one had ever seen a Blanding's there before. Penny told me about it some hours later at an other location. A few hours after that, on my way home, I thought I'd check it out and sure enough the Turtle was still sitting on the same rock. I got off about six shots;then, when I looked up, after checking my camera settings, it had disappeared. To my knowledge no one has seen it again at that pond since then. Odd that it sat there patiently waiting several hours for me to come by and take its picture, then suddenly vanish, never to be seen again at that pond.
Penny got a much better shot than mine. You can see it on her Pbase site at http://www.pbase.com/witsend/image/144825482
