MERLIN (Pigeon Hawk) just caught a pigeon as I drove up to a stop sign. I watched the pigeon struggle for a while, but it was no match for the Merlin. I was able to take a few shots from quite close range with my wife's small Olympus camera. In this shot, the Merlin was trying to drag the pigeon away from me, but it was just too heavy. It did leave its prey for a few moments when I got too close; however, as soon as I stepped back a few pases, it returned with a vengence.
