A Loon family was once again this year near the locks at Merrickville.
This parent has a nasty looking wound between the eyes.



Baby is quite large but still not able to dive.



Both parents dove under and then came up behind us so we were between them
and the baby. This caused distress so we immediately backed off and went on our way
and they quickly reunited. It wasn't the flat calm water I like for easier picture
taking from the canoe.
