The Stevedore Muffler Man looks north from the flat roof of Stevedoring Services of America, on a wide boulevard down to the water. He originally stood in front of a muffler shop, possibly in the 1960s. He was on a trailer, so may have been flitting around the social circuit for years. The muffler shop moved to this location and the landlord let them put their guy on the roof because there wasn't enough room at street level. A few months later the shop went out of business, but the Muffler Man remained. He still has his weathered 1980s paint. He used to hold a giant wrench, but that disappeared many years ago.
