Not a happy camper (2)

No gallery of mine from Saudi Arabia would be complete without a camel picture, and indeed I do have a couple of them, but these aren’t the cute, cuddly looking ones this time. There were rides for children during the day, and I ran into those same camels in the evening. It was clear this camel was not happy and didn’t like his handler, and sadly I think the feeling was mutual. It was quite different from the situation I had seen at both the camel souk and camel beauty pageant, as well as on a private farm in Diriyah. In my very uneducated opinion as I'm no expert on camels, I have to think that the treatment these animals receive by handlers is reflected in their behavior. I think the people looking on felt sorry for it as well.

The other unhappy camper picture:

Nice capture of the interaction, Helen. Amazing that this camel is being used to provide rides to children. I wonder how many took up that offer!

Wow - you've captured this encounter so well - don't think I'd tackle a mad camel. V
PS I met a lady in Zimbabwe who raised elephants and she was able to tell when a handler had
mistreated one of them

That is disturbing and sad, especially in light of the other photos you've shown of very happy camels and owners. V

I really dislike seeing a animal that is this unhappy!!

Indeed. The character of an animal or pet, reflects the behaviours of its owner.
