DxO Comparison

These two pictures represent what DxO claims to do that is unique....fix the aberations of less-than-perfect lense/camera combinations...in this case the Nikon D50 with a Sigma 18-200 f3.5-6.3 lense. The pictures are taken almost fully stopped down at 200 meters, one of the extremes where the Sigma doesn't do too well. The "sharpening" of the image in the DxO version is easy to see when examined at original size, versus the JPEG taken directly from the original NEF file on which both are based.

You should be able to notice the effect anywhere, but it is particularly noticeable regards the rooftop on the left edge of the picture. However the peeling paint and the fire escape on the right side of the yellow building, and the bricks further to the right side of that, attest that the photo is improved everywhere.

Click on the photo to bring it up in its original size, and use "previous/next" to switch back and forth.
