Nene Goose

The Nene Goose is found only in Hawaii. They are thought to have evolved from Canada Geese blown off course eons ago.
Note the reduced webbing on their feet.
Once on the brink of extinction, conservation efforts have resulted in a resurgence of the native population of geese at Kokee State Park on Kauai.
The birds flourish on Kauai because tender loving care and the absence of mongoose.
